How to Take Appointment for Visa Interview for USA

After getting I-20 from your desire University, you can go forward and take appointment for your visa interview. To take your appointment for visa interview you have to go through some steps one by one. Here are they-
You have to create an account on CGI portal to register. You have to register on this ustraveldocs website. Here is the link for this website- here . To register there, you have to follow this step.
· 1st - Go to that website and choose your country where you live.
· 2nd- Then choose a visa category. If you are Nonimmigrant like student and visitor then choose Nonimmigrant visa option. If you are an Immigrant then you can choose Immigrant visa option.
· 3rd- After selecting visa category, an important notice will pop up. Just read and close that. You will see two option there- one is Log in and the other one is Create Account/ New User, Click on Create Account/ New User to create a new account. It will take you to portal.ustraveldocs.com
From there you have to create your profile by following the instruction to register on that portal.
Select your country and then start an application. Then fill-up all the pages of DS-160 form and submit it. You can partly fill-up the form and can submit it later in 30 days. It will stay valid up-to 30 days after you edit it. Note the application number. It is very important. It will be necessary for the next time you want edit the form to submit.
· 5th- After submitting the DS-160 form, you have to use the application number to update it on CGI portal. It’s necessary while taking the appointment.
· 6th- You will see some option on the left side of your CGI portal.
Select new application/schedule appointment. Then follow the instruction and fill-up with proper information.
· 7th- After filling out those, you will be asking to pay the appointment fee. It can take up to 2 days to get update of your payment. The payment reference number will show on your portal after the approval of the authority.
· 8th- Now you can schedule your appointment according to the available dates on the calendar on your portal. Choose a date and a slot from the calendar to schedule your visa interview appointment.
Note- You can reschedule your appointment date for 2 times after taking the initial date. Also you can apply for emergency date for your appointment according to your needs.
· 9th- Download and Email your confirmation page of the appointment for your further use.
Now wait for your scheduled date to come and prepare for your interview. And make sure you have all the necessary documents that is required for your interview.
What is Necessary for Schedule an Appointment?
SEVIS FEE:
All international students are required to pay SEVIS fee before the visa interview. The SEVIS fee amount is $400.
How to Pay SEVIS Fee?
- To
pay the SEVIS fee, you have to have a valid I-20. There is a SEVIS ID number on
each I-20. You have to use that number to pay the SEVIS fee. Just go to the SEVIS
fee payment webpage and make a payment on that page. Here is the link of that

Click on ‘PAY I-901 FEE’ and follow the instruction. Use the SEVIS FEE number from your I-20 and make the payment. You will get a confirmation on that page after your payment.
Note: SEVIS FEE payment are valid for 1 year. You the SEVIS FEE after taking your appointment date. But you have to pay the fee before 7 days of your appointment date. It’s better to pay 2 weeks before the interview date.
Do You Have to Pay The SEVIS FEE For Dependent?
No, you don’t have to pay SEVIS FEE for your dependent. It’s only for the students/ main applicants.

Yes, you have to pay for your dependent visa interview appointment also.
After the visa interview you can track your updates on CGI portal and also can check your visa status by using your DS-160 form number. Good luck.
